Royal Voluntary Service is a national charity built on local volunteering, giving support to older people who need it in hospitals and in our communities. 'Supporting Your Recovery' aims to reduce the number of hospital readmissions and to remove delays to discharge from hospital. Our service supports people aged 65+ with low care needs in their own homes after being discharged from hospital or nursing home. Depending on their needs, we can assist with a variety of activities to help regain confidence and independence, to improve mobility and general wellbeing. There are various areas in Sandwell where you can get involved in 'Home from Hospital' volunteering, including Oldbury, Rowley, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. You might help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, looking after pets, introducing people to social groups and activities in their local area or just being there when people begin to do things for themselves.

About the organisation
In every corner of Britain, Royal Voluntary Service mobilises volunteers to support those in need, in hospital and in the community. Through the gift of voluntary service, our volunteers provide much-needed support for over-stretched public services and for people as they age. Our volunteers work at scale in the NHS, freeing up NHS staff to dedicate more time to patient care, and within communities to give practical help and support to people as they age.
